Design Crush: Leather wrapped doors

On a recent search for inspiration I came across a photograph of doors wrapped in green leather and detailed with brass nail-heads. This brilliant idea comes from Miles Redd a well-known New York designer. Leather is a great fabric to mix into modern and traditional design because of its elegance, durability and timeless beauty. With time leather will age giving the doors a warm patina and character.

Miles Redd also designed Zebra French doors for his own apartment. I want leather wrapped doors in my house. Do you think that doors wrapped in leather or fabric are practical? Would you dare DIY this idea?
